Jessica Palter
Chief Legal Officer
Jessica holds both common law and civil law degrees from the McGill Faculty of Law and completed an exchange at the Paris Institute of Political Studies (Sciences Po, Paris) in the Masters in Economic Law Program. Before law school, she earned her Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from the University of Toronto with a Specialist in International Relations and a Major in Criminology.
As Chief Legal Officer of Purpose Unlimited, she is responsible for all company legal matters. She joined Purpose in 2016 and works on a broad range of matters, including strategic initiatives, mergers & acquisitions, corporate governance, and shareholder matters. She also oversees the legal and compliance group responsible for the legal matters impacting Purpose’s client segments, including Purpose Investments, Advisor Solutions by Purpose, Harness Investment Management, and Driven Financial.
Before joining Purpose, she was a member of the Corporate Group at Torys LLP, with a legal practice focusing primarily on mergers & acquisitions (public and private) and corporate finance.
She is passionate about competitive sport, particularly triathlon, where she has competed in all event distances, including the full-distance Ironman.
